Welcome to SoundAntiques

SoundAntiques are dedicated to the many unusual instruments we come across, which do not fall into any category on our main websites ( all linked above): SoundAntiques is part of a traditional violin and guitar shop located in Guildford, Surrey, UK. Established in 1972. We are makers, dealers and collectors of fine instruments, and offer many specialized and unique services. We invite you to browse this site, to find out more. Enjoy.

SoundAntiques

(updated March 2014)

News Flash:

You are invited to an exhibition! This weekend we would like to welcome you to our stand at the Amati Exhibition, Sunday 23rd March ( 9 am until 9 pm) and Monday 24th March ( 9 am until 6 pm) . Venue: The Lansdowne Club, 9 Fitzmaurice Place, Mayfair, London W1J 5 JD. We will have some new violins made by Brian Cohen for trial, and a new viola, as well as some fine chinrests by AA Accessories and Boid d'Harmonie, some fine cases ( Musafia, Viotech, Accord) , and a selection of bows, including carbon bows by Arcus and Righetti, and also some antique instruments. Please do come along, say hello to us, and there will be many other exhibitors as well as many lectures, talks and panel discussions throughout the 2 days. Please have a look at the website for AMATI for full information and the timetable. We look forward to seeing you there.

At SoundAntiques we offer here a range of highly collectable, unusual and often very rare items: Many are suitable for museum collections, and many are fully playable, and would make superb additions to any specialist collection. Most are not restored, as we try to source and offer only items in original and 'museum quality' condition, but where needed sympathetic restoration may have been carried out, either 'in house' or using the very best specialists possible in their field. We are a real 'bricks and mortar' shop, not a 'cyber-shop', so you can visit, by appointment only, to view the instruments in person.
